LAU Awards 87 Scholarships to High-School Students

Over two days, the LAU Beirut campus teemed with 1,200 high-school students from 190 schools across Lebanon to attend the final conference for LAU’s Model Arab League, Model European Union, and Model Good Governance. A total of 87 high schoolers were rewarded with scholarships for their excellent performance. For the past year, the young delegates have been trained and guided by 202 LAU student leaders of the simulation models secretariat.

LAU Simulation Programs Underway

UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Joanna Wronecka, Secretary General of LAUSM Shady Abi Fares, LAU officials, school principals, LAU secretariat, diplomats and UN representatives gathered to inaugurate LAU’s youth leadership simulation programs on October 1. Kristof Kleeman from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation participated through a videotaped message. Registration is still open. So far 159 schools with 3,594 students and 273 advisors have joined.

LAU Students Win First and Second Prizes at the SDG Brain Lab

Two LAU student teams took first and second prizes at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Brain Lab competition, organized by the UN Global Compact Network Lebanon (GCNL). The first prize winners had proposed a digital solution for cancer patients and their caregivers, while the second prize winners designed an app to help children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, addressing SDG 3 and SDG 4 respectively.

LAU Simulation Models Back on Campus

Following a year of successful virtual training and conferences, the LAU Simulation Models are back to in-person delivery of the flagship Model United Nations, Model Arab League, Model European Union, Model African Union and Model Good Governance. More than 2,500 students from 203 schools came to both LAU campuses on February 26 to celebrate the launch of this year’s programs.

USP Scholars Complete Their Internships

The Community Support Program (CSP) recognized and celebrated 15 LAU University Scholarship Program (USP) scholars who recently completed their internships in their respective home communities. The program, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), had assisted the scholars in realizing their development projects.
